The Culinary Arts Program is doing great things at Southwest Technical College (Southwest Tech). The students in the program are learning amazing culinary skills, in addition to real-life experiences. Those experiences included catering monthly for the Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce, the Cedar City Lions Club, and weekly for the Cedar City Rotary Club. Students also get experience serving multiple times a week in their new “Southwest Café,” which is open to the public Wednesday – Friday from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm, at their main campus at 757 W 800 S. (Click here for details on Southwest Café.)

The Culinary Program has recently teamed up with SUU to provide different pathways in which Southwest Tech Culinary students can continue their education and receive degrees from SUU. Those degrees include an associate’s degree in culinary arts or a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, with an emphasis in culinary arts. For more information on this partnership, please view this article from SUU News.

The Culinary Arts Program started in August of 2016 and currently has over 20 students enrolled in its certificate program, in addition to high school students that also take culinary classes at Southwest Tech. Click here for more information on the Culinary Arts Program.
