Southwest Technical College is delighted to announce that they received a $30,000 donation from Intermountain Healthcare. This unique donation goes towards a bridge program to help promote diversity in healthcare through scholarships. This specific benefit to students in our area will hopefully be the beginning of more to come, according to Jordan Merrill, Intermountain Community Health Program Manager. ”Our partnership with Southwest Tech is what has spearheaded this and hopefully will pave the way for other technical colleges and universities to provide funding to bridge the work that is being done with healthcare and our educational system. The work that Southwest Tech does is so important. We see it on a daily basis. We are grateful to Southwest Tech for providing excellent students and excellent caregivers for us to benefit the community.”
This donation will help many students to reach their goals in health care. President Brennan Wood of Southwest Tech noted that, “The Intermountain Healthcare donation is a generous and far-reaching donation. I am thankful to have wonderful partners such as the Cedar City Hospital who invest in the future of our students and support technical education. The donation of $30,000 will have an immediate impact on our region and improve access to healthcare training in seven different health profession programs.”
