Southwest Tech Courses for High School Students
Southwest Tech course offerings for students in Iron County School District.
Electrical Apprenticeship
The 1st Year Electrical Apprenticeship – High School Session is designed to accelerate a high school student towards a career as an electrician. As the first of a four-year training plan the course is intended for high school seniors who want to get a head start on an electrical apprenticeship and a rewarding career as an electrician. Students will demonstrate competencies in electrical theory, and hands on skills.
Each year following high school covers two required sessions, which include classroom and practical instruction. Training concentrates on skills necessary to successfully pass the state journeyman test. Electrical Apprenticeship courses are accompanied by the students on-the- job training with whomever they are employed. For more information on journeyman licensing and required work hours, please visit Utah’s licensing website.
