Southwest Technical College (STECH) is proud to announce a donation from American Packaging Corporation (APC) towards scholarships that will support students interested in careers in manufacturing through STECH’s Automation Technology Program.
The scholarship donation reflects American Packaging Corporation’s belief in the power of education as a catalyst for personal and professional growth. STECH and APC are pleased to announce two scholarship opportunities, a full scholarship that covers the complete cost of tuition, fees, and books for one STECH student and an additional donation to help cover the cost of attendance for another STECH student both of whom demonstrate a passion for careers in manufacturing and machine automation.
As a fully accredited institution, STECH’s Automation Technology program has a strong foundation in industrial safety and provides students with the necessary skills in mechanical, electrical, programming diagnostics and repairs to work in the manufacturing industry. This program provides students with vital education and skills that APC uses in the design, development, and production of innovative flexible packaging for many well-known brands of food, beverage, healthcare, pet care, personal care, and a variety of other products.
“Southwest Tech is thrilled to partner with American Packaging Corporation to contribute to the educational journey of deserving students and empower them to achieve their dreams,” said Brennan Wood, President.
As a new member of the Cedar City community, APC is equally pleased to join in partnership with STECH and the Automation Technology program to provide career pathways for students.
To apply for the scholarships, please complete the Southwest Tech Scholarship Application form, which can be found at https://stech.edu/admissions/financial/scholarships. The application should be submitted by July 15, 2023. If you have further questions or want to schedule a tour, please contact STECH Student Services at 435-586-2899.
American Packaging Corporation will be celebrating the opening of APC’s new Cedar City Center of Excellence with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The winners of the scholarships will be invited to attend the ceremony and receive a tour of the new 275,000-square-foot manufacturing facility which houses state-of-the-art flexographic printing presses, laminating, pouching, and finishing equipment.
“American Packaging is very excited to join the Cedar City community and work closely with STECH to help provide educational opportunities that advance student training, drive job opportunities and growth in Cedar City,” said Jeff Koch, President of American Packaging Corporation. “Through this partnership, we hope Cedar City residents will get to know APC and how we intend to support the community through our philanthropy, as well as offering good jobs and great careers.”
