Pre-Admission Exam

1. Review the Student User Guide

Please review the Student User Guide. This guide covers how to set up your NLN testing portal, purchase optional prep materials, purchase the test, and retrieve your final exam score.

2. Set up your NLN account

Create your account through the NLN Assessment Services portal. You only need to create this account once. Refer to the Student User Guide.

• Create a username
• Fill out your personal information
• You will receive a confirmation email. Confirm it to activate your account and set your password (the link is good for 24 hours).
• Check and change the time zone if necessary.
• Select Southwest Technical College as your institution. If you cannot find Southwest Technical College in the list, email testing@stech.edu before you purchase an exam.

3. Purchase and complete the exam

After your account is set up, log in at the NLN Assessment Services portal to purchase and complete your exam, review your assessment report, and notify the college that you have finished.

• When purchasing the PAX exam, select the Hyflex version (H-PAX_1) priced at $55, not the $80 option. If the catalog no longer lists H-PAX_1 or the price has changed, contact testing@stech.edu before you buy.
• The exam is only available for 30 days after purchase.
• You are encouraged to take the exam at home if you have a laptop and webcam. If you do not, you can take it at the Southwest Tech testing center.
